WS_FTP - Help for New Users

Question/Problem: I am a new user and am not sure how to start, can you help?

Answer/Solution: When you first open WS_FTP Pro you will see a connection screen. Click on My Sites, then locate the single monitor screen above My sites and click on it (when you point to it will popup and say New Site).

You will need to fill in information about the FTP server you want to connect to.

Here you will be asked to give it:
1.) A name
2.) the IP address or hostname of the FTP server
3.) User ID
4.) Password

At this point you can click Finish because most servers do not require info for Account, Local Folder, Remote folder etc, and these can be set up later when you have a better idea of what folders you need to be in when you first connect, but for now they can be blank.

Now you are ready to sign in and start transferring files. Make sure that you are connected to the internet and press Connect.

**NOTE**
If you are at work, you may need to contact your Network administrator for information about connecting through a firewall. You may need to supply the firewall Tab in WS_FTP Pro with additional information that would allow you to pass through the firewall. Most likely you would need the hostname and that is it, but some require a user name and password to get through the firewall too.

If you are at home and are connected to your ISP you probably do not need firewall info.
