What are permissions?
Answer/Solution: Permissions are settings on the
ftp server that allow a user to perform a certain task when they have logged in. Here is a list of
permissions and what they mean:
List. The user can display a listing of the folder(s) contents.
Read. The user can download files from the folder(s).
Write. The user can upload files to the folder(s).
Delete. The user can delete files and folders in the folder(s).
Rename. The user can rename files and folders in the folder(s).
If you attempt one of these task and you were not given permission you will
see the message:
"550 permission denied"
If you feel that you should have permissions to do what you are trying
to do then you will need to contact the company that runs the ftp
server to which you are connecting.
