Question/Problem: How can I view a specific folder or directory when I connect to an FTP site? Answer/Solution: You can configure WS_FTP to open a particular directory each time you connect to the site so that you will no longer need to navigate the directory structure each time. In version 2006 you can open remote sites and local views by opening a Workspace. You will want to show the Workspace Toolbar (View | Toolbars | Workpace Bar) and to connect by selecting a Workspace rather than by connecting to a Site. To address some of the feedback we've been getting about the complexity of the workspace feature, we have produced a short video tutorial which is now available in the support center: Using Workspaces - an interactive tutorial In older versions of WS_FTP, select the Startup tab in the Site Properties window and enter the full path of the Local Folder and/or the Remote Folder which you wish to have WS_FTP open automatically each time. In WS_FTP versions below 6.5, the Site Properties window can be found by clicking on the Properties button in the "Configured Sites" window. In version 6.5 or greater, the Startup tab can be found by clicking the Advanced Properties button in the window entitled "Connection". |
