Answer/Solution: Ipswitch is aware of the following international versions of modems compatible with WhatsUp Gold.

ONBIT 288 Modem (Rockwell Compatible Fax Voice Modem)

WhatsUp Gold Standard Modem Init String

Several international versions of U.S. Robotics (USR) modems are compatible with WhatsUp Gold. Both the German and French versions of USR 28.8 modems are known to be used successfully.

Note: Newer modems (e.g. 56K versions) may be utilized if their rate of transfer can be stepped down to a maximum of 2400 bps (TAP specification). However, some newer modems cannot be made to transfer below 9600 bps even though you may use an initialization string that specifies a lower rate of transfer.
