IMail - What is the format of the kill file?

Product: Version: Platform:
IMail 7.0+ NT,Win2000,XP,Win2003

Question/Problem: What is the format of the kill file?

Answer/Solution: The Kill File (\imail\kill.lst) should have one entry per line in either of the following formats:

userid@host
@host

Starting in version 8 you can enter:
@*widget.com
This will reject all mail from widget.com, bluewidget.com, nifty.widget.com, etc.

IP addresses do not belong in the kill file.

You can edit the kill file in IMail Administrator | localhost | Services | SMTP | SMTP Security | Kill File.

We recommend that you stop and restart the SMTP service after kill file changes.

As of version 7.1x, there is no size limit for the kill file.

Here is an SMTP log file line when a message is refused due to the kill file:
SMTPD (01740404) [156.21.1.5] unacceptable mail address in MAIL FROM:<test@ipswitch.com>
