WS_FTP Server - How to change from a DHCP IP address to a Static IP Address

Product: Version: Platform:
WS_FTP Server All All

Question/Problem: How can I change my computer from a DHCP IP address to a Static IP Address?

Answer/Solution: To verify that your computer is configured to use a DHCP supplied IP Address, go to a Command Prompt. Type in "ipconfig/all" and press enter. If you see this line:
    DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
then your computer is configured to use a DHCP IP Address. WS_FTP Server must be installed on a Static IP Address.

To use the IP address that was assigned to your computer by DHCP as a Static IP address, copy the settings from the following lines (from the ipconfig/all data):
    IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . :
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . :
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :
    DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . :

Go to: Control Panel | Network Connections.
Double-click Local Area Connections
Click on Properties
Double-click Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)

If your current setting is, Obtain an IP address automatically, you can select: Use the following IP address.

Fill in the IP address and Subnet Mask fields from the information that you copied.

Note: Be careful not to choose an IP Address that is already in use; this would create a duplicate IP address on your network.
