Question/Problem: How can I change my computer from a DHCP IP address to a Static IP Address? Answer/Solution: To verify that your
computer is configured to use a DHCP supplied IP Address, go to a Command Prompt.
Type in "ipconfig/all" and press enter.
If you see this line: IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : Go to: Control Panel | Network Connections. ![]() If your current setting is, Obtain an IP address automatically, you can select: Use the following IP address. ![]() Fill in the IP address and Subnet Mask fields from the information that you copied. Note: Be careful not to choose an IP Address that is already in use; this would create a duplicate IP address on your network. |
